FAROESE SHAWL
Sept 16 & 23(2 Wed) 6:00pm-8:00pm Cost: $30
It’s going to be cold this winter and we are going to need all the shawls and sweaters we can make to keep us warm with energy prices rising! This practical and pretty shawl takes it’s name from the “fairies” of the island off the coast of Scotland by the same name. It is a simple garter stitch pattern with interesting shaping to help it cling. The lace border and center gusset add a little itnerest. The best part is that you work from the bottom up so it goes more quickly as you get closer to the end. HOMEWORK REQUIRED! Instructor: Carol Puntel. Level: Advanced Beginner. Class min: 3/max:8.
FIX IT
Sept 20 (1 Sun) 10:00am-1:00pm Cost: $22.50
Some of you know about humility stitches, but there are times when humble means actually having to fix something. Do you want to learn how to pick up those pesky dropped stitches (even when you are working in pattern or they have dropped down more than one row)? Do you want to learn about “frogging” and “tinking” and getting your stitches back on the needle with them all going in the right direction? What happens if you finish the row and there are too many or too few stitches? Are your yarn overs going in the correct direction? How about your increases and decreases? Is there a hole in your garment (or socks) that you want to repair? What happens when you get all done and the sweater is too big or too small----is there a way to fix this other than giving it away? Come to this class and learn these and other “Fix-It” techniques to help reduce your stress.HOMEWORK REQUIRED! Instructor: Carol Puntel. Level: All skill levels. Class min: 3/max:8.
MISTI ALPACA WOVEN SCARF

KNITTING TWO MITTENS AT ONCE ON ONE LONG CIRCULAR NEEDLE FROM TIP TO CUFF (WHEW!)
Oct 3, 10 & 31 (3 Sat) 9:00-11:00am Cost: $45
Cookie recently took this KGOA class from Janet Rehfeldt. There are so many techniques she wants to share with you:
- knitting with one long circular needle
-knitting 2 mittens at once from tip to cuff
=a closed cast-on (looks so perfect and can be used for toe-up socks too)
-yarn over or closed eyelet right and left increases
-a perfect fit (a tracing of the recipients hand works for this)
-symmetrical decreases for a nice looking “v” at the gusset
-a flexible or sewn bind off for ease
In short: MANY new techniques in one project! Instructor: Carol “Cookie” Hornung. Level: Intermediate Advanced. Class min: 3. Class max: 8.

FALLING LEAVES SCARF
Oct 5 & Nov 16 (2 Mon) 6:15pm-8:15 Cost: $30
This scarf is a perfect fall class----just look at the “falling leaves”. It is yet another approach to modular knitting. The special surprise is the cabled join at the neck. I made mine longer so I could wrap it, but that is knitter’s choice. In addition to the ribbed modular knitting technique that forms the “leaves”, you will learn how to use intarsia to create multi color cables---and, of course, we will do them without a cable needle! Instructor: Carol Puntel. Level: Advanced Beginner. Class min: 3/max:8.

CONTINENTAL KNITTING
Choose One:
Oct 8 (1 Thur) 6:00-8:00pm
or Oct 24 (1 Sat) 1:00-3:00pm Cost: $15
Knitting Continental style involves holding the yarn in your left hand and “picking” it, as opposed to holding the yarn in your right hand and “throwing” it (English style). When you hold the yarn in your right hand, you have to let go of your knitting in order to “throw” the yarn around the needle when making a stitch. You also have to let go of your knitting in order to bring the yarn forward or back between the needles when switching between knitting and purling (when ribbing, for example). When you hold the yarn in your left hand, you never have to let go of your needles. If you’re interested in knitting more comfortably or with greater speed, this class is for you! This is also an important skill to know for two-handed color knitting. Instructor: Iryth Ferrandino. Level: All skill levels. Class min: 3/max:8.

Here’s the adult version of Elizabeth Zimmermann’s February Baby Sweater as designed by Pamela Wynne (www.flintknits.com). It’s a beautiful lace sweater with some swing and style. The best part is that it’s knit from the top down and is completely seamless. The sleeve and body length can be adjusted to your preference and the pattern is written to fit 35” - 52.5” bust. Homework Required! Instructor: Iryth Ferrandino. Level: Intermediate. Class min: 3/max:8.

AND, you get to create your own fabric! In this class we will talk about color theory and combining yarns. We will work with a swatch to determine a gauge when more than one weight yarn is used.
